Research and data
What history the Lab's backtests, rules and assistant can read — fills since 2022, recorded order books since July 2026, daily metric snapshots — the time ranges, and the known gaps.
What this is for. Every Lab result is only as good as the history behind it, and that history does not start on the same day for everything. This page lists what the Lab reads, from when, and the gaps you should know before trusting a long window. The assistant states the same ranges in its answers and tool results.
What each part of the Lab reads
| Used by | Data | From |
|---|---|---|
| Copy backtests and wallet screens | Position history — each wallet's first-order position in each token (its buying in the first 10 minutes), resolved, with what a follower could have done after it: the later prints near its price, its sells, prices an hour and a day later | Read live: the run states its first and last day and any missing days |
| Own-rule backtests (book conditions) | Recorded order books — best bid and ask, top-of-book sizes, last trade and the dollars within 3¢, written each time a watched token's book changed | 23 July 2026 |
| Own-rule conditions on volume, trades and timing | Market trading and calendar data | 1 November 2022 — but an own-rule backtest still starts no earlier than 23 July 2026, because its entries are priced on the recorded book |
| Rankings "as of" a date, Builder-ranking strategies | Daily snapshots of every wallet's lifetime metrics and percentiles | 23 July 2026 |
| Copy Engine board strategies | The Copy Engine board per day | 7 August 2026 |
| Category skill | A wallet's skill score per category over 14 or 90 days, per day | 24 August 2026 |
| The assistant's own queries | Every exchange fill since the exchange's first (21 November 2022), markets, events, resolutions, realized P&L per wallet and market, the metric tables at each window, mid prices, fee snapshots, daily liquidity | Per table, as stated |
The assistant's data queries are read-only, at most 30 seconds and 200 rows each and 25 per answer; it can also read a market's details and live order book from Polymarket. A backtest window is at most 366 days.
Known gaps
- Order books before 23 July 2026 are gone. An old retention setting deleted earlier days; it has been removed, so the recorded history now only grows. An own-rule backtest cannot start before that date: before it only trade prints exist, and they were measured 2.4 times too kind to entries.
- Only watched books are recorded. The recorder follows open markets with books. A token with no rows was not watched, not empty.
- Convert wallets and resolved counts. About 16.6k wallets that trade through negative-risk converts are left out of the resolved-position counts, so a trader with no resolved positions is either one who closed by selling before resolution or a converter; the assistant says both. See P&L and resolutions.
- Paper runs before 21 October 2026 may be undercounted (see Paper trading → Known issue).
- Fill models are optimistic. Every report states its fill model and the optimism measured for it; read Backtesting.
Time and freshness
Days and limits in the Lab are UTC (backtests a day reset at midnight UTC). How fresh each served dataset is, surface by surface, is on Data freshness.
